I have finished this quilt top (do you recogniz it Helena?) and have these large flowers to blanket stitch around. I have never done it using my sewing machine and thought I should give it a try as it would be much faster.
As you can see the machine is not doing a clean job. The stitches from in the petal is coming back up to the edges on an angle rather than straight up. I have followed the sewing machine instructions re stitch length width etc. I am not pulling the fabric as it sews etc.
ANYONE know what I need to do to fix this?

Ok... I have had this problem too...but at the back... and I have noticed that my stitches becomes better when I change to a number 90 needle...it wont work all the time...

I wish I could help but my machine doesn't even have a blanket stitch!
I no help either. I havent done blanket stitch on my machine yet. Maybe google it??? Sorry.......
Hows it going?....I have been tempted to try it on the machine too, but I actually enjoy blanket stitch....and I can do it in the car too!! Hope you can get it to work!! Cathy

It can be a little bit tricky sometimes, I know. I got the best result when I used machine embroidery thread. Sometimes I have used the blanket stitch through all layers for quilting, and that was good. Perhaps you can iron on very thin batting just under the flowers....Good luck!

the problem is evident in your pic actually. you must use some form of stabilizer under your fabric. your applique is stiffer/thicker than the fabric you are sewing it to. i machine blanket stitch a lot and find stabilizer will eliminate this problem.
failing that, get your machine serviced.
