Withdrawal of application

I want to withdraw my application for the position of Super Mum.

I signed on the position of super mum because I want people to think I am so clever.

The position entailed I used cloth nappies. It requires more domestic work and regular 2 - 3 hourly changing. It requires regular and delicate balancing of waste with a baby and a dirty nappy. It can be problematic with seepage and leakage. I have been unsuccessful in maintaining the regular cleaning requirements with child number three.

The position entails the baby is pacifier free. It requires the baby to not ever be offered a pacifier. Under no circumstances - despite baby excessive feeding, excessive overflow spill and strong desire to suck. I have been unsuccessful in avoiding the use of a soothing dummy.

The position entails the house is in perfect and immaculate order. I have been unsuccessful in maintaining the house in a perfect and immaculate state.

This position entails the baby is not held or gazed at for long periods. I have been unsuccessful in avoiding the overwhelming urge to watch my baby awake or asleep.

This position entails the baby is put to sleep in its own bedding. I have been unsuccessful in avoiding the use of my bed or front carrier for calming baby and sleeping purposes.

The position entails the baby settles quickly, feeds well and sleeps long periods. It requires settling with complete ease and no crying from the baby. It requires baby to feed well at all times and strictly to a regular 3-4 hourly routine with no top ups allowed. It requires baby to sleep in between feeds for the full period with no issues. I have been unsuccessful in ensuring my baby settles quickly, feeds well and sleeps long periods.

The position entails a calm, happy and easy going mother. It requires I am to always maintain a feeling of calmness. It requires I maintain a feeling of being happy with no feeling of being overwhelmed or emotional. It requires I am easy going and find anything very easy to do. I have been unsuccessful at maintaining a calm, happy and easy going character at all times.

I want to return to my original position of Being A Real Mum. This position allows me to feel less guilty of choices I make for MY baby. This position allows me to acknowledge my real emotions and feelings so I can feel and make choices that work for me. This position is a lot less emotionally and physically demanding. This position allows me to cuddle and hold my baby for as long as I want to. This position allows me to let go of the house work so I can gaze at my baby. This position lets my baby be happier because I can meet his needs the way it works for him and I. People still think I am clever.

I hope you will accept my resignation.

O pllleeease! How could anyone be expected to do that job especially when you don't even get handed a perfect baby. Or maybe the baby is perfect but the job description is wrong. Definitely resign. And if you still require your bub to sleep in it's own bedding than whip it of the cot and dump it into your bed.

Super Mums are like all ficticious Super Heroes, ficticious! Real Mums are the real deal! Take off the cape and mask and enjoy what life has to offer, go with the flow and use whatever method necessary to ride out the waves!
Hugs

Resignation accepted. I think the job position will be left open for a very long time as I'm sure there are very few applicants out there who can fulfill all the job requirements!

Congratulations - you definitely have the 'real mum' job!
I think Supermum must be a completely fictional character (as it's absolutely impossible)!

even cleverer actually. x

Gosh! Don't think I ever had a supermum job! I think babies should be held, cuddled and watched - awake or asleep! Having a new baby is such hard work. Hope you are having fun with the whole thing!

watching a sleeping baby is a full time job requirement i have found! lol.

Resignation accepted Sarah, real mum's are normal mum's. Isn't it great that we suddenly realise what we can't be because then we can carry on being who we really are.

Super mum's are over-rated (and non-existant)! And who really wants to have to wear their underpants on the outside anyway. Real mums all the way...

My darling girl!! I am sooooo glad you have joined the ranks of the great Mums, not the Superhero variety (they are soooooo over rated and downright scary IMO!)Enjoy those darling boys - they grow up far too fast. I wish I was closer to give you more support. xxxx

Hey, this is the hardest job in the world, but the most rewarding so just do what you can to keep it all together (and it sounds like you're doing fine!!)

I have been reading your blog just about since the time you gave birth to this precious little baby and enjoy it a lot! (I think Rachel sent me, but I am not sure ;-) )Just keep going, you sound like a great real mum as mums should be!

Ooh Sarah,

I think being a SuperMum is all about being a RealMum. You want your children to remember you always as the mum that was real, the mum that goofed but laughed, the mum that had fun, the mum that made them feel loved, secure and confident, you don't want them to remember the fact you kept a pefect house and their clothes were always clean and ironed!

I am so sorry I have not been to see you and little man yet, there has been some things I have had to deal with at ghome, but I hope next week to come and visit with a box full of clothes!

Hugs to you all

I think you had that a little mixed up - your last paragraph was the definition of a Super Mom - don't let anyone tell you different. A Real Mom is a Super Mom - that other lady you talked about - a fictional character invented by someone who never had kids! Your kids will always think you are Super ... so snuggle away Mom! (and keep chocolate handy at all times!)

Yup, this is real life here!
Just enjoy that little one while he is still little, there will be plenty more time for blogging and sewing later.... you are doing an amazing job to keep blogging! take care, Bec xxx

Don't be so hard on your self your a super mum. You love your children and gazing and cuddling is the very best thing in the world. Enjoy every minute of them and don't stress the house only gets to a certain state of untidyness then it stays the same.

Us mums can be so hard on ourselves sometimes! The supermum is a myth. There is no perfect mum and no perfect child, but they do appear perfect when they are sleeping in your arms. Don't feel guilty. Enjoying your baby is the reward for bearing and birthing a new life. It's the way it's meant to be! They are small for such a small time. xxx
